Last Saturday saw the annual North versus South Regional League clash at Devonport Oval with the Cygnet Football Club well represented by Michael “Pud” Darcy, Bradley Watson, Mitchell Direen and Dean Townsend. Dean was named as the team’s first emergency. To achieve four players in the final side is an excellent effort, and the Club and supporters should be proud of their achievements. Unfortunately, the North will retain bragging rights for this year with their victory, but no doubt the South will be keen to make amends next year if the representative concept continues. Bradley Watson was named best on ground for the Southern side that further confirms he has one of the best work rates of any footballer going around in southern area at the moment, while “Pud” was a focal point and leading goal-scorer contributing four goals in a losing side. After a well timed break for all sides, to help shake niggling injuries, football returns to Cygnet Oval this Saturday with the Dodges Ferry Sharks venturing to the Port. After thumping the Senior side in Round 4, the Port will be keen to put in an improved performance against one of the top sides in the competition. It is time for the players to put in a solid four quarter effort, and as Triabunna have previously demonstrated, anything is possible on any given day on the footy field. Hopefully a big loud and enthusiastic crowd will be in attendance to witness what has the makings of three very good games of football. See you all there!
